In times of COVID, we've all gathered new insights on remote teaching and learning. Meetings and lectures were moved online and all the sudden, all interactions were reduced to emails or to faces (or empty gray boxes) on our monitors.
TeachInVR is a virtual environment that utilizes virtual reality (VR) to enable immersive multi-user teaching and learning experiences in a three-dimensional space. TeachInVR aims to extend the repertoire of tools in a teachers’ toolkit. It even brings gestures back into our conversations, aiming to form an intuitive and natural communication platform. Plus, after months of video-chats, we can finally recognize again who is looking at us and who is talking explicitly to us!
It was built to be a sandbox environment for implementing, testing, and evaluating new concepts of teaching methods within the framework of VR. With a computer-generated space at its core, it allows the development of teaching concepts that go beyond two-dimensional blackboards, PowerPoint slide shows, and videos. It removes physical limitations and allows to show complex 3D models easily.
This project will, in the future, allow us to assess whether assigning spatial context to information can enhance understanding as well as long-term recall.
Come and explore new ways of teaching with us!
